Join the Revolution?

Many of my campaign materials say "Join the Revolution" and have Revolutionary War imagery on them. The reason for this is that I want to restore the same sort of government that the Founding Fathers of the United States wanted. I'd like citizens today to start thinking like the free people that they were at the time of the Revolutionary War.

Here are a few quotes from the Founding Fathers to help modern citizens understand the sort of government they wanted for the United States:

Thomas Jefferson

"A wise and frugal government which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government." – Thomas Jefferson, Second Inaugural Address (1801)

"When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty." -Thomas Jefferson

"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it." – Thomas Jefferson

"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government." – Thomas Jefferson

Benjamin Franklin

"It would be thought a hard government that should tax its people one tenth part." – Benjamin Franklin

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." – Benjamin Franklin

George Washington

"Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master." – George Washington

I, and many other people, want to start a new revolution that restores the government of Iowa and of the United States back to the small, limited government that predominated for most of our nation's history.
